The Reality of Housing
in the UK
Most people want to stay in their own homes as they age, close to family, friends, and community. But many are forced to move, not through choice, but because their home no longer supports their independence.
This creates pressure on families, health services, and social care and most importantly, it removes dignity and autonomy from people’s lives.
Here are some facts....
Number of people living in the UK with a disability
16.1m
Number of people aged over 65 by
2030
1 in 5
Percentage of accessible homes in the UK
3%
Number of homes that need adaptations for their users safety
2m

Why We Can’t Wait
New accessible housing is essential, but it’s slow, inconsistent, and nowhere near keeping up with demand.
We can’t wait for the system to catch up.
Part of the solution lies in the homes we already have and by working together we will be able to be one step ahead and create much needed homes to allow people to stay in their homes longer
